Camp to Community Hickory

Camp to Community Hickory

8:30 AM – 5:00 PM EST • Lenoir Rhyne University

Have you ever felt overwhelmed managing diabetes every day while wishing your child could simply feel confident, understood, and free to enjoy being a kid? Families impacted by type 1 diabetes often juggle constant care, emotional stress, and a longing for real connection. Camp to Community exists to change that story. Through a one-day, medically supported camp experience, children ages 5–15 and their families find laughter, learning, and belonging in a safe, empowering environment. Led by trained professionals and mentors who live with diabetes themselves, our program transforms education into fun, builds authentic relationships, and connects families to lasting resources. By the end of the day, participants leave feeling stronger, more confident, and deeply connected—no longer facing diabetes alone, but supported by a compassionate community built to last.
