Development Manager

Position Summary:

The Development Manager plays a pivotal role in driving the fundraising success of The DFC by building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and partners. The ideal candidate is a passionate, results-oriented self-starter with a strong commitment to the transformative power of community. They should thrive in a collaborative environment, demonstrating a positive attitude and a deep belief in The DFC’s mission to create lasting change.

This individual will be responsible for cultivating corporate partnerships, exceeding revenue goals, and spearheading relational fundraising initiatives. They will bring expertise in grant writing and be a compelling storyteller, effectively communicating the profound impact of The DFC’s programs, services, and community.

This is a remote position. The candidate is expected to reside in North Carolina and be available to attend events across the state as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Fundraising Strategy

  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies to achieve revenue goals, focusing on corporate partnerships and relational fundraising.
  • Highly proficient at developing and creating sponsorship materials for corporate partners at all levels. 
  • Track fundraising metrics to show the success of campaigns, donor relations strategies, and the impact of fundraising on the annual budget.
  • Lead collaboration across The DFC staff and volunteer team to create successful campaign strategies that deliver on annual fundraising goals. 

Relationship Building

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, corporate partners, and community stakeholders in collaboration with the Executive Director. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, understand their motivations, and engage them in meaningful ways with The DFC and our community. 
  • Develop, track, and execute donor stewardship, including acknowledgments, thank yous, and return on investment reports. 
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to complete the annual impact report and share this report with donors, participants, and community stakeholders.

Grant Writing

  • Identify and write compelling grant proposals to secure funding and support for The DFC’s initiatives.
  • Manage reporting and compliance for grants awarded, maintain tracking, impact, documentation, and deadlines outlined by grants. 
  • Collaborate with volunteers to support the grant writing process and proposal support. 

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management or a related field, with fundraising experience, including corporate partnerships, relational fundraising, and grant writing. Proven track record in developing strategies to meet revenue goals and building strong relationships with donors and stakeholders.
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication, storytelling, and interpersonal skills
    • Expertise in writing compelling proposals
    • Ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and priorities
    • Event planning and volunteer coordination skills
    • Proficient in multimedia content creation (photos, videos, graphics)

  • Knowledge of Diabetes (Preferred):
    A strong understanding of Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and its impact on individuals and families is a plus, but not required. Enthusiasm to learn about and engage with the T1D community is essential.

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation: 47,000 Annual Package includes a stipend for retirement funds and insurance.
