Scholarship Information
We understand that living with Type 1 diabetes is expensive. We do everything in our power to make our programs as affordable as possible for our participants. The true cost for one camper to attend to attend Camp Morris is close to $1,500. Our camper fees are heavily subsidized thanks to the generosity of our donors, sponsors, and volunteers. We want EVERYONE to be able to experience the magic of camp!
We are excited to be able to offer full and partial scholarships for all of our programs!
How are scholarships determined?
Scholarship applications are reviewed in the order in which they are received and awarded based on the following criteria (listed in order of priority):
Applicant is recipient of NC Medicaid or other governmental assistance
Gross household income in relation to the number of individuals in the household
Recent reduction in family income due to loss of employment
Multiple children living with T1D in the family
Documented, unanticipated high out-of-pocket medical expenses
Recommendations from a physician, social worker, therapist, etc.
Other extenuating circumstances, assessed on a case by case basis.
How do I apply for a scholarship for my camper?
The scholarship application is built into the regular camper application via your CampInTouch account.
What if my family cannot afford the non-refundable deposit?
If you are applying for a full or partial scholarship, and are unable to afford the non-refundable deposit, please send us an email at admin@thedfc.org.
